Rotary spray heads
The Alfa Laval rotary spray heads is a tank cleaning head is a free-rotating spinner that uses low volumes of cleaning media at low pressure for effective cleaning. Rotating spray heads improve tank cleaning efficiency, using less water, less energy and less cleaning media than static spray balls. This reduces the total cost of ownership and speeds the cleaning process, enabling more production uptime.
Better, more sustainable tank cleaning than static spray balls
- Safe, hygienic design eliminates the risk of contamination
- 40% faster cleaning times compared to static spray balls, which translates into more uptime
- 40% savings in water and cleaning media consumption compared to static spray balls
- More sustainable tank cleaning machine with higher cleaning efficiency and lower total cost of ownership compared to static spray balls
- Easy to retrofit into tanks using static spray balls without having to adapt supply pressures or flow rates
Let Alfa Laval rotary spray heads clean tanks more effectively than static spray balls. The CIP head is designed according to the most stringent hygienic standards, these provide Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) for vessels used in hygienic processing lines across the dairy, food, beverage, home-personal care, and biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
Four versions are available to meet every tank size: micro, midget, magnum, and mega. To ensure complete tank coverage, all rotary spray heads are available in 360°, 270°, and 180° spray patterns and with various tank connections.
Options include horizontal installation, ATEX version, and high-purity and aseptic versions backed by Alfa Laval Q-doc documentation package for full traceability of all product-wetted contact parts.

How does Rotary spray heads work?
The flow of the cleaning media causes the head of the tank cleaning head to spin. Fan-shaped jets lay out a swirling pattern of cleaning media throughout the tank, vessel or reactor. This generates the mechanical impact and cascading flow of cleaning media required to clean all internal surfaces and efficiently remove product residues from these surfaces.
